Photography Project inspired by the song "Things to Do" by Alex G
It makes me think of activities I used to do as a kid. Like walking to school every day and paying attention to the small things I would find.
You never realize that peace, being a kid and just looking, with no rush and little worries. Now I make sure I really take my time to embrace and appreciate what’s around me and “suck it in” because life really does change fast, you never know when it’ll be the last time.
Last time you’ll be in a certain place, with a certain mindset, with a certain feeling, with a certain perspective. It all changes. I decided to shoot at a new park and my old elementary school that haven’t visited in 10 years. When I was exploring, I expected everything to be the same. I wanted everything to be an exact snapshot of how I remember it, but it wasn’t. All the playgrounds were new, and the bushes were unkept. It was all different. I wonder what will change in my present. I must appreciate where I am now and enjoy my surroundings before it changes, or I change. I think my work for this project is mediocre but my last 10 final images came out better than I expected, especially with the time I spent on it. I struggled to find time and a good day for photos. It was hard because I’m an adult now, I have work, I have classes, I have worries and struggles now taking up my day. I found myself skipping class to catch up on sleep, so I missed the critiques. I really wish I was a kid again so I could just go outside and play, but now I can’t seem to find time to see and feel the sun.
